Cook and Peary's first hand accounts of their independent explorations of the North Pole. Red cloth with gilt lettering on front and spine and paste down illustration on front of Peary raising flag at North Pole. 7x10 1/2". Gilt lettering has dulled with some blemishes to cloth. Binding is tight and book is square, with very minor bumping to the corners. Dr Frederick A. Cook's own story of how he reached the North Pole on April 21st, 1908. Also includes the story of Commander Robert E. Peary's discovery of April 6th, 1909. Illustrated with half-tone reproductions of photographs of these and other expedititions. Pages are yellowed. 428 pp. Note: Books $45 or more shipped in protective mylar jacket.
